ACQUA FOR LIFE - GIORGIO ARMANI CONTRIBUTION TO THIS AMAZING HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVE....

GIORGIO ARMANI’S “ACQUA FOR LIFE PROJECT” JOINS FORCES WITH SEAN PENN AND J/P HAITIAN RELIEF ORGANIZATION

The Acqua for Life project was created in light of a simple, yet fundamental consideration: water is one of the most important elements of life, yet in many parts of the world, it is difficult to not only supply, but even have access to it.
Access to water is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century and is an essential condition for sustainable development.
The Acqua for Life challenge is to create an international solidarity campaign on a global scale.

Giorgio Armani is proud to announce his partnership with Sean Penn, CEO of J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) to improve water conditions in Haiti.
The Acqua for Life Campaign will donate a $500,000 USD grant this March to benefit the Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) activities overseen by J/P HRO in the dense urban environment of Delmas 32, a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince.

This year, Giorgio Armani is also delighted to renew his Acqua for Life challenge for 2013 with Green Cross International (GCI) in Ghana and Bolivia and with Unicef in the United States.

The 2013 target is to build a rainwater harvesting system in each school, drilling a borehole in each community which will pump up water from aquifers of the Parapetí River basin, as well as providing health and hygiene education to the benefiting families.
Between 2012 and 2013, 27 communities in Charagua will be equipped thanks to the actions of Acqua for Life.
Acqua for Life will also continue in Ghana and focus on the shanty town of Kumasi,
one of the biggest cities of the country

The project also had an Internet focus: with each new “fan” of the Acqua for Life Facebook page, 50 litres of water were automatically donated to the Smart Water for Green Schools project.

The site www.acquaforlifechallenge.org will present the campaign and how the results are progressing. It will also detail the concrete actions undertaken - drilling, wells, construction of rainwater collection systems, etc.
