FREEZING AWAY FAT CELLS WITH CoolSculpting® - MY EXPERIENCE WITH CoolSculpting AT SILVERADO MEDICAL AESTHETICS IN CALGARY

I have "known"  Silverado Medical Aesthetic Clinic for years as it was the first place I chose for our family’s medical needs. I knew that beside "medical" services, the clinic also offers aesthetic services - I hadn’t had a chance to experience them - until just few weeks ago.

The moment you enter Silverado Medical and Aesthetic Clinic, you will receive a warm welcome from the receptionist at the front. There are two entrance doors into the clinic, one for medical services and the other for aesthetic services.

The space is “bright” and "clean" which I believe, puts you in a "better mood" immediately. In general, Silverado Medical and Aesthetic clinic offers an array of aesthetic and laser treatments which was my reason for visiting the aesthetic side of the clinic.

I wanted to experience a treatment that is being talked about everywhere, COOLSCULPTING!

Whether you’re looking to enhance your body shape, get rid of stubborn fat, or just look and feel comfortable in your clothes again, CoolSculpting® could be the answer!
CoolSculpting® is a leading non-surgical fat-reduction treatment. It's an innovative way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat. It involves NO surgery and MINIMAL DOWNTIME. With more than 7 million CoolSculpting® treatment cycles performed worldwide so far, people everywhere are getting a different view of themselves (can't wait to share with you my "before & after" photos!).

Before I share with you my personal experience with CoolSculpting, let me tell you more about the procedure itself. The CoolSculpting® procedure delivers precisely controlled cooling to target fat cells underneath the skin. Treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), destroyed, and then over time your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead fat cells. The result… a more sculpted you!
Treated fat cells are gone for good!

Upon arrival at the clinic, I filled out all the required forms and then went straight into taking photos of the area to be treated, which were my arms. Lovely Joyce, the clinic coolsculpting specialist was very helpful with guiding me into a number of "positions". You have to take few photos from different angles to compare your before and after photos.

After the photos were taken, Dr. Folake Pepple, who is the Medical Director of the clinic came into the room to "draw" on my arms, to mark the treatment area. This will ensure perfect placement for the CoolSculpting applicator which will freeze the fat cells.

After those initial few steps were behind us, I was advised to sit comfortably on the bed while. Joyce placed the applicator on my left arm (as you can see on the picture below)  which was applied for 35 minutes, that’s it, 35 mins per area!

The CoolSculpting treatment is actually a pleasant experience - you don't feel any “pain” until perhaps the last stage when the applicator is removed and a two minute massage of the treated area is performed. This massage is a little “pinchie” but apparently it increases the efficiency of the treatment by up to 60%! - so hey - I guess it’s worth it!

You need to give yourself about 12 weeks after CoolSculpting treatment to see results. That is when I will  go back to take new photos for comparison , my follow-up appointment is scheduled in February- so STAY TUNED!!

My special Thank You to Dr. Folake Pepple and Joyce for giving me a wonderful experience at your clinic and I look forward to see you next year:-)

ENGINE 2 ENGINE - PRESENTING 2019 DIL GALA IN SUPPORT OF RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY

If you haven't heard about Dil Gala before - then let me introduce you to a very special and memorable evening happening every year - for the last 6 years here in Calgary being put together by the DIL Walk Foundation.

DIL Walk Foundation - DO IT for LIFE (DIL) WALK - is a not-for-profit, community-driven brainchild being run by the committee of volunteers, standing for Wellness, Access, Linkages, and Knowledge. In order for these values to be

met, the DIL Walk Foundation has partnered with the University of Calgary to establish a Heart Research Chair to concentrate efforts on heart research, the very first Research Chair of its kind globally.
And here, the biggest kudos go to a wonderful couple Calgary's cardiologist Dr. Anmol S. Kapoor and his wife, dietitian - Raman Kapoor. They wanted to support the community by encouraging people to start thinking of their health and the annual DIL Gala is a celebration of local efforts to let this vision shine and truly make a difference in the city of Calgary, and not only.

One of the biggest accomplishments of DWF is surely supporting the CHARM Clinic, Alberta’s only outpatient chronic disease clinic. The CHARM Clinic is a
leader in heart failure care in the community that is actively engaged in ongoing clinical research. Over 320 hospital stays have been prevented since its conception, adding up to an average of 3200 “bed days” saved by the clinic alone. This unique initiative frees up a hospital bed for other Albertans, and uses community support to run as this is not a government-supported program.
What the charitable nature of the DIL organization means is that 100% of the funds go directly towards furthering medical and research necessities in community of Calgary (which I love!)

This year DIL Gala was held in the heart of downtown Calgary, in a beautiful Hyatt Regency Calgary. Over 500 guests arrived in style to a beautifully decorated ballroom , being welcomed by the glass of champagne, and exposed to many attractions planned for the evening, including specially prepared by the Hyatt's Executive Chef dinner, silent&live auctions, one of a kind entertainment and... luxury Italian cars thanks to Ferrari of Alberta.

What a pleasure it was for me to be a part of this year Gala again (and for the last 2.5 years), getting a chance to emcee this wonderful event (this year along with my lovely co-emcee Austyn - who was absolutely amazing to work with, meaning way more funny than I was. PS. He is a comedian.)
And what was one of the most memorable moments of the night - for sure the presentation of 100.000$ cheque to the University of Calgary Faculty of Nursing department.
