FASHION & BEAUTY WEEK 2011

All fashionistas are waiting for Fall!!! Why?? Because this is the time of the year when fashion shows take place all over the world.

This year, for the second time New Jersey had its own fashion week, but this time run as Fashion & Beauty Week, which was held on October 3-4th, 2011 in West Orange, at the magnificent Pleasantdale Chateau (http://www.pleasantdale.com/) - the most exclusive venue for social events in the Garden State.

"...Where fashion and beauty collide on the runway..."- that was the idea Jack Panico - FBWeek Founder - had in mind and aimed to bring it into life. The event included not only runway shows featuring top seasoned and emerging designers, but also all guests had a chance to enjoy full cocktail dinner, wine tasting, beauty bar, silent auction and lots of entertainment!!

As a truly and important event for the state of New Jersey this year's event benefit reputable and result-driven cure-focused organization - the Diabetes Research Institute. The aim was to raise money and awareness for such a serious disease, while showcasing New Jersey as it really is - a beautiful state with high-fashion people, places, and style...

Emerging and established designers not only from New Jersey, but also from New York as well as from Europe (Poland) showed their 2012 collections both days. First night, beautiful models were presenting clothes of 7 designers - Dolce Vita (http://www.dolcevita.com/), Devon Thomas (http://www.devonthomas.net/), Ari (http://arisoho.com/), Bound & Tide, Teresa Rosati (http://www.teresarosati.com.pl/), Theia (http://www.theialab.com/) and Monique Lhuillier (http://www.moniquelhuillier.com/).

Tuesday was the day filled with great designs as well presented by such fashion designers as: Bound & Tide, Jay Godfrey (http://jaygodfrey.com/), Jensen Martin/William Rast, Esposito, Adrian Alicea (http://www.adrianalicea.com), Sandra Baquero (http://www.sandrabaquero.com/), Marisa Kenson (http://www.marisakenson.com/) and Pamela Dennis (http://www.pameladennis.com/).

We have to admit that both nights models looked just stunning thanks to great work of talented hair stylists and makeup artists from Panico Salon&Spa, Avanti, Nars and many more!!

Some of the celebrities that showed up were - ladies from the Real Housewives of New Jersey, Anna Demidova (Dancing with the Stars), actor Joe Piscopo, Catherine Zalewski (Mrs. New Jersey 2011), singer DMC and many more.

Over a month ago Live Cosmo YYC together with ABStyle, Edges Salon&Spa and Mealan Boutique came with an idea for best "worst-dressed" image. After reviewing all the submitted photos winners had been selected!!!

Dorinda Ainscough came in 1st place for having the ugliest fashion day photo. Dorinda's prize was a $1,150 value, which included:

1. Edges Hair Salon: Cut/Colour, manicure, and makeup (Value $250)

2. ABStyle - 2 hours with Image Consultant, Ania Basak - including 1 hour consultation & 1 hour of styling session (choice of wardrobe checkout / personal shopping assistance) & Professional Makeup Application (Value $400)

3. Mealan Fashion - outfit from Mealan (up to $500 Value).

I really enjoyed the time I spent at Edges Salon & Spa, I started off with a beautiful manicure from Nargis and followed that up with a great colour & cut from Benji.

I was then lucky enough to have my makeup done by Ania of ABStyle, it was really nice to see different

colours & products used on me and have a professional give me information & tips. I am looking forward to my shopping trip with Ania in October and my trip to

I had my consultations with Ania from ABStyle, and had such a great time! She is super nice, and easy to talk to. I have learned a few dressing tips that will be valuable in my life. She made sure when we went shopping that I pushed some of my boundaries and made me try on garments that I wouldn't have considered previously (hey, that's what this is about right?) and would like to thank her and LiveCosmo for selecting me as "Second Worst Dressed!"

PURPLE CARPET GRAND-OPENING GALA by EDGES SALON&SPA

It was fabulous evening downtown Calgary, where Edges Salon&Spa celebrated their Grand-Opening at their second location. All invited guests had a chance to enjoy evening filled with glamour&beauty. Team from Edges presented new hair collection for Fall 2011 combined with amazing fashion show featuring clothes from ChiChi couture and jewelry made by Holly Allen Designs. But what is most important - guests were asked for donation at the door so the proceeds could support ONEXONE and Butterfly Project which help both children and women from the Calgary Women's Shelter. Live DJ, refreshments, door prizes and exclusive promotion- those are only few highlight of the evening - but what is most important-everyone seemed to have wonderful time!!

I am personally honored having a chance to collaborate with Edges team and ABStyle is proud to be one of the sponsors for the gala.
